DA52 maiden flight

On April 5th the new seven seater from Diamond Aircraft took off for it's maiden flight. Powered by two Austro Engine AE300E 180-hp turbo-diesels the flight "contained no abnormalities". The DA52 program was realized in less then six months.
The takeoff roll  at a gross weight of 1780 kilograms and a 5 kts headwind  used 300 meters without flaps. Initial climb rate was 1,700 fpm. The DA52 reached 12,000 feet (3660 m) in less than nine minutes with 120 KIAS. There the cruise speed was increased to 190 KTAS, which is the limit of the authorized envelope. But as Diamond sais: "we may see a lot more."
The DA52 will be first shown to the public at the Aero show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, between 18th and 21st of April.
